Taize Service

At various times in recent years we have held Taize Services at one or other of our churches.

Currently we have no services planned, but when they do happen, they follow the style of the Taizé Community in France.

It is a very different experience from a ‘normal’ church service:

• The atmosphere is quiet and meditative with periods of silence
• Space is cleared for people to sit on the floor if they wish, or on chairs or pews at the sides
• The church is lit by candles
• Chants and the reading are sometimes in different languages to remind us of the universality of the Gospel
• The service includes periods for silent prayer and meditation
